Watch Marvel’s The Punisher with us on Friday

Netflix will be dropping Marvel’s The Punisher on us this Friday at midnight (pacific time zone).  To celebrate the release of the series full 13 episode first season, join us on Twitter as we live-tweet the series, using the hashtag #WatchWithTVE.  Remember to stay up late on Thursday night, as the series drops at the exact moment the day turns to Friday.

The Punisher is the 6th series to come out of Marvel’s deal with Netflix.  Originally the deal called for an original series for each of the 4 leads in a later team-up series, The Defenders.  The first series to come out of the deal, Daredevil, was a huge hit.  In Daredevil‘s second season, the character of The Punisher was introduced, as portrayed by The Walking Dead‘s Jon Bernthal.  Bernthal’s take on The Punisher resonated with fans and critics alike, and so the character was granted his own series, outside of the original deal.

The Punisher is being run by Hannibal writer Steve Lightfoot, and sees Bernthal return in the titular role.  The series follows Frank Castle, The Punisher, whose revenge killing spree placed him as the antagonist of Daredevil‘s second season.  In his own series, Castle uncovers a vast conspiracy related to the death of his family, and his past service in the military.
