New Trailer for NBC’s Constantine

Based on the DC comic Hellblazer

NBC’s upcoming Hellblazer (Vertigo) comic book adaptation Constantine keeps looking better and better.  A new trailer has been released today for the pilot episode directed by Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones).

Constantine stars Matt Ryan (Assassin’s Creed 4) as titular character John Constantine, an exorcist and master of the dark arts.  Constantine will also feature Lucy Griffiths (Robin Hood, True Blood) as Liv Aberdine, Charles Halford (True Detective) as Constantine’s closest friend Chas Chandler, and Harold Perrineau (Oz, LOST, Sons of Anarchy) as the angel Manny who is assigned to look over Constantine.  The show is being written by David S. Goyer (the Blade Trilogy, Nolan’s Batman movies, Man of Steel, Da Vinci’s Demons) and Daniel Cerone (Dexter).

Hellblazer was previously adapted as a movie (also called Constantine) starring Keanu Reeves as John Constantine.  Many of the decisions made for that movie , however, were not received well by fans.  The chief offence being the nationality swap of John Constantine himself (who is British int he comic Books) and the general changes to his personality and appearance.  David S. Goyer and Daniel Cerone promise a much more faithful adaptation.

Constantine will Premiere on NBC in October.
